After a four-hour jet-lagged trek with luggage from JFK via Airtrain and two subway lines (no escalators) we finally located our hotel......

 One hundred years' old (Grand Central Station, not the cheery tourist)

 

Evening: strange Vietnamese do-it-yourself soup/fondue with built-in electric hob below the table surface. With platefuls of raw meat and vegetables and a bubbling pot in front of you, armed only with a pair of chopsticks, it was a rather stressy messy job, but could be fun once you know how it goes. 

Abendessen: "vietnamesisches Fondue" - ins kochende Wasser gibt man mit Stäbchen Gemüse, Fleisch, Meeresfrüchte- dann mit den Stäbchen in eine Sauce - und wenn man noch was zwischen den Stäbchen hat- in den Mund.
